I have heard only good things about the Toyota Tacoma with people routinely buying them with more than 100,000 miles. Is there a sweet spot on number of miles to buy a used truck? Are there any model years that are considered "less good" than others?
Hello, Dara Hailes! In terms of reliability, Tacoma is a very good truck and you can buy it regardless of its mileage (if you don't care about stiff suspension). But they are expensive so it really makes sense to look for high mileage Tacoma which is more affordable but still has a big lifespan. Talking about model years we noticed that (like in case of any other car manufacturers) Toyota's quality is going down slowly. So maybe you shouldn't buy the newest Tacoma - it seems that it's not the best choice in terms of quality for money.

What's your thoughts on a 2010 Ford Focus SE with 44,000 miles on it for a high school student? My research shows 2010 was still a good year for the Focus before they started having some issues. Thank you.
Hello, Tim! Yes, that is a good choice. Second generation Focus has simple and reliable engines and good hydraulic automatic transmission (not horrible PowerShift). If it really has only 44,000 miles it's almost a new car.

Hello, chris! Unfortunately, ASE doesn't certify mechanics performing a pre-purchase inspection which requires skills from different areas of automotive knowledge. So if some mechanic who performs pre-purchase inspection claims that he is ASE-certified he lies or he does it part-time having the main workplace in some workshop and specializing in a particular area. But do you want your car to be inspected by a mechanic who works on a part-time basis?
