Hi there, I'm looking to buy a Toyota Sienna minivan. My budget is up to 7K, though I'd love to buy in the 5K range. What is your experience with the different models? I've read that 2009 would be the most reliable year in that price range. Will probably be contacting you for inspection once I find the one :) Thanks!
Hello, cornelia! In general, Siennas are reliable - the engine and transmission can last for a long time. But almost all Siennas have multiple oil leaks and worn-out, leaking steering racks. And if to some extent you can ignore leaking engine oil, the steering rack issues have to be addressed. And it's about $1000 for repair.

I’m considering the purchase of a 2013 Lexus RX From US Auto Sales in Alpharetta. Can you do a PPI for me ? If so what would the cost be? How much lead time to schedule the inspection? Thanks
Hello, Todd Stuart! Yes, we can check this car. It's $180 and usually, we can do it on the same day.

Considering a 2014 Dodge Durango with over 130,000 miles, first year with new V6, 8 speed transmission. Poor reliability, 2 out of 5, JD Power. Should I avoid Durango's altogether or just certain years or models? Thank you!
Hello, Bill S.! Yes, to say at least, it's not the best car in terms of reliability. And if you want to use it as a daily driver and hope that it will last for another 100k miles - odds are you will have to spend a lot on repair. But as a second car with light use, it may last a few years. You just need to make sure that it doesn't have serious issues at the time you are purchasing it.

What are your overall impressions or advice on pre-owned Nissan Pathfinders and Xterras with 90,000 - 110,000 miles with the V6 engine and automatic transmission? Experience performing PPI's on these vehicles?
Hello, Drew! Old Nissans were well made and if the car you like wasn't abused it could be a good option. You have a decent chance to find a reliable car.

Do you inspect foreign vehicles like Volvos? I’m looking at 2008-2010 XC90s, but wanted to see if you had the VIDA software to read codes? Also, what do you think about high mileage XC90s?
Hello, Greg! We have inspected many Volvos, including XC90s. And of course, we can read and check every electronic system the car has. In general, XC90s hold up better than average but sometimes transmission becomes the weakest point.

We care considering buying a 2016 Mustang with 93,000 miles for our student. Cards report shows 2 minor front end accidents and 1 minor side swipe. What are gour thoughts.
Hello, Bradley! If it really were minor accidents - its' not a deal breaker, especially when repair quality is decent and there is no risk of paint peeling or fading. And in general, Mustang is a pretty reliable car. Most of the time they don't have major problems, of course, if previous owner wasn't a racer (that is why it makes sense to look at V6 engine - odds are it was used more conservatively)

Is the 2017 Nissan Sentra a solid starter car for a student? I’m considering one with more than 100,000 miles. Any particular red flags or reliability issues to look out for?
Hello, James! Nissans have weak transmissions. Instead of conventional hydraulic automatic transmissions, they have CVT (Continuously variable transmission). And in general, we don't recommend buying high mileage (more than 100k miles) Nissans - there is a real risk of upcoming problems (like vibrations, noises or complete failure). The only exemption is when you know that the car was mostly driven on a highway with minimum stop-and-go traffic. In that case, CVT could last much longer.

I am considering purchasing a 2018 Ford fiesta with automatic transmission. It has 44,000 miles. Do you consider this a reliable car? Are there any particular issues with this year, make and model?
Hello, Georgia Lunsford! Unfortunately, no. Fiesta has a very unreliable Power Shift transmission. It was so bad that Ford even discontinued it after years of unsolvable problems.
