Across 63 used Ford Transits we inspected, this model scores noticeably better than the typical used car we inspect — average condition 66/100 vs 61 for all cars we check. Every number on this page comes from real pre-purchase inspections — cars people were about to buy and paid an independent inspector to go through point by point, engine to underbody, paint depth to error codes. Not owner surveys, not warranty statistics, not forum lore: what we actually found.

The bottom line

Start under a Transit, not in the driver's seat. Engine oil leaks show up on more than half of them and drivetrain leaks pile on, so a dry underside is your first filter—if it's wet, negotiate hard or walk. Then scan it yourself; active codes are common and a third already had codes cleared, so a blank dash is not proof of health. Check tire wear next and use a worn set to cut the price. Walk from anything that fails the leak-and-scan test instead of betting you found the exception.
