Across 76 used Lexus RXs we inspected, this model scores a little better than average — average condition 66/100 vs 61 for all cars we check. Every number on this page comes from real pre-purchase inspections — cars people were about to buy and paid an independent inspector to go through point by point, engine to underbody, paint depth to error codes. Not owner surveys, not warranty statistics, not forum lore: what we actually found.

How they score
What the seller might not mention — how often we find it on this model.
Share of Lexus RXs in good shape (scoring 60+/100) by mileage and by age when we inspected them (each dot ≥5 cars; rolled-back odometers excluded from the mileage curve). The dashed grey curve is all cars we check.

Straight from recent Lexus RX reports
Treat every RX as an engine-first buy. Oil leaks hit 55 percent of them and fuel trim is out of range on plenty more, so pop the hood and scan before you sit in the seat. Live error codes, tired tires, and torn bushings are the usual follow-ons, which means a cheap-looking example can still need real money after you drive it home. Paint work is common but not unusual, and structural repairs are rare, so a respray alone is not a deal-breaker. Walk when the engine is wet or the scan is messy; pay up only when the bay is dry and the electronics are quiet.
